Quickly approaching Christmas, Tuesday December 15th. Eco Paint had scheduled and completed an interior ceiling painting job. A 20 year home in Piney Creek owned by Terry C. a Commercial General Contractor, whom is a previous customer of 3 years ago. Terry was so pleased with our exterior painting a few years ago, having us come back taking care of his interior painting concerns. Painting approximately 700 square feet of ceiling, furniture still present, we finished in approximately 6 hours from start to finish. Using ceiling white, ceilings brightened up considerably from a dingy 20 year old pop-corn ceiling texture, to a like-new one. Terry plans having us back after the first of the year, painting the upstairs ceiling area, now knowing how less intrusive the recent one was.
Terry helped immensely taking down nic-naks and wall hangings close to the ceilings in his office, however masking everything, known in the painting industry as “Cocooning” with plastic. Bringing inside plastic airless spray rig, and all tools, the actual painting takes place. Once finished, all plastic is wrapped or folded within it’s self, leaving no footprint we were even there.
Normally this would take the average do-it-your-selfer 2-3 full days, usually spending all free time, set aside relaxing for next weeks work, and or spending time with the family. 2-3 days is conservative estimate, as I’ve heard of some home owners spending a month of weekends doing what we can do in a day or two. Eco Paint can free up your time off, doing things you enjoy doing the most. Also knowing interior painting can and is an inconvenience to the customer, having painters and workmen within the home, the skilled and professional painters of Eco Paint gets the job done right in shortest time possible, and an estimated time of completion and number of painters is given on every proposal.
So, if your looking for an exceptional interior painting experience, don’t settle for seconds, and contact Eco Paint Specialist’s for your painting needs.
The Kitchen is one of the most enjoyed rooms of the home, where families gather for the day for breakfast, and evening for dinner, discussing days events. On special occasions entertaining other family members and friends.
Although Kitchens tend to require less interior painting than other rooms of the home, as cabinets take up a lot of wall space, much is required, pulling off a professional interior painting kitchen for all to enjoy. Below, are some interior painting tips helping your kitchen painting project go as smoothly as possible.
Clean substrate. As kitchen walls and ceilings can gather dust and films not typically seen, a mild detergent with warm water and sponge is prescribed. Moving appliances out if possible, careful not harming kitchen room floor, as full refrigerators can be quite heavy, and rollers can dent wood floors.
Normal painting tools, including but not limited to a good quality paint brush, roller pan, roller skin, drop cloths, 3-M film dispenser, roll of 48″ film, premium quality caulk, disposable rags, small bucket of warm water, Blue 3-M Tape, and a lot of patience. Buying paint colors of course, but stay away from flat sheens for kitchens.
After all the cleaning has been accomplished, it’s time to start masking off. Be sure to use Blue tape on finished stained cabinetry, as normal tape can leave adhesive behind and possibly mare the cabinet finish.
Caulk tape lines, wiping off with damp rag, for smooth uniform paint finish.
Soak new paint brush in warm water if using latex, which is highly recommended. Shaking off excess, by hitting brush heel on the toe of your work boot. That way good quality paint brush is easier to clean, and less likely to drip.
Always working from top down, it’s ok getting ceiling paint on walls, rolling out from furthest corner to another, painting interior kitchen ceiling.
After ceiling paint has dried, normally 30 minutes, it’s time to paint walls, and around cabinets. Remember to keep paint roller pointing the same direction rolling out any interior walls or ceilings. If not, thicker paint lines will probably appear as paint roller pressure is the same with same direction. Other painting contractors may probably kill me for telling this well kept secret, but what the heck.
After wall painting has dried, it’s time to paint/brush any trim, baseboards the same color as the rest of the home.
Your now on the home stretch, for a day or two of hard work, depending on the size of your kitchen, but is well worth it, for reasons mentioned earlier. Good Luck! and your more than welcome contacting Eco Paint for any of your Kitchen Painting needs.
Painting Denver is no different than the rest of the country when it comes to painting interiors. Having somewhat of a cooler climate painting exteriors, painting interiors either currently being lived in, or vacant, heat is typically available, allowing the fresh new paint colors to dry properly, giving another reason to paint year around. Whether painting kitchens, painting bathrooms, or living rooms, the sheen of choice is eggshell. Eggshell being a sheen, not a color, as some are lead to believe.
Three phrases for the same type interior paint, depending which paint manufacture is supplying our interior paint. Some use the word satin, others use low luster, while others use eggshell, but all the middle sheen, in between flat and semi-gloss for interior painting. Interior painting with eggshell comes in a multitude of paint colors, ceilings too can be painted with the same eggshell sheen, providing warmth and cohesiveness to any decor. Normally, pop-corn ceilings should be painted with a flat paint finish, as one would not clean this type of surface, unless there are two textures going on in the same room and ceiling. Example of this is kitchen ceiling textured, and dining room pop-corn. In this case, both textures should be painted with the same interior paint finish.
Advantages using Eggshell Paint:
Interior painting with eggshell, satin, or low luster is very durable with the ability to clean with a sopping wet rag and mild cleaner, while not taking off any interior painting finish.
Perfect for families with young children, as most parents can vouch for. Using eggshell sheen, you’ll never, or your cleaning crew will never have to worry about the possibility of harming the interior painting finish.
The appearance of flat, without having that caulk board feel. Paint manufactures listened to the public once again, giving another choice from flat to sem-gloss, one in between. By 1990, eggshell sheen was gaining popularity, being introduced in late 1987. New home builders continue today using flat sheen, as it is more cost effective, and is easier bought in bulk, with more on hand. Your custom home builders demand painting interior with eggshell sheen, as it is a more professional finish depending on the situation.
Touch ups are very easy using eggshell sheen in a neutral or medium base, but deep base and dark colors can be seen having to paint the entire wall where touch-up is made, unlike flat finishes. Some real dark blues, yellows, and red colors have been known to need 3-4 coats, wet on dry application for coverage, and should be considered before choosing these, could require additional interior painting and labor.
There are several different solvents used by painting contractors for different painting situations, either cleaning or thinning products for proper spraying consistency. Here we will discuss most common ones used. Using Solvents, like Stains, Varnishes, and Shellacs are very flammable and extreme care needs our attention at all times for upper respiratory and fire hazards.
Some Important Safety Precautions dealing with these solvents;
Cannot substitute with rubbing alcohol or methanol
5. Xylene and Toluene Solvents:
Xylene and Toluene primarily used in mixing with certain manufactures Enamels, Varnishes and Conversion Varnishes.
Xylene and Toluene are very strong, these are some chemicals used within Lacquer Thinners, and some Paint Removers.
Use only Xylene and Toluene when Paint manufacture recommends it’s specific addition for exact measurement.
All Solvents should have containers tightly closed in metal containers, placed into a fireproof metal cabinet when not in use. Painting Denveruses a metal storage cabinet housing all flammable solvents when not in use.
